Where Is Can Too Center in the Process?
Can
Too Center, Inc.
has qualified with the IRS granting our 501 (c) (3) status as
a
public charity dated April 4, 2008. Thus making your
donations to Can
Too Center a tax deductible payment when filing Federal Income
Tax.
Our main need at this time is to raise
funds and locate the best
campus type setting that we will operate, build or remodel existing
buildings
for the first Can Too Center, Inc. We are searching for closed
schools, vacant land, vacant buildings, closed hospitals or closed
small colleges and have not found the best place
for this very important public charity. We know that God is
leading us to be centrally located so victims can access us from across
the nation. Therefore our main search has been in Kansas. We are now
located in Rush County Kansas and would be happy with this area, unless
something more suitable becomes available.
We also realize that God might lead
someone to
assist the Can Too Center with this problem and we are ready for this
as well, since we believe that God has lead us this far.
There is
no doubt in our minds that when people recognize that 1 out of 3 women
will be a victim of domestic violence and 1 out of 6 children are being
raised in homes where domestic violent crimes exist and knowing the
impact on our society this causes, people's hearts will be moved by God
to give assistance to Can Too Center. Donate to Can Too Center
Finding the victims needing assistance
will not be a
problem. The victims may come to us through Pastor referrals
or
maybe they have utilized an emergency shelter already.
If they have opted to go to an
emergency
shelter first the emergency shelters allow the victims to
remain
their for 30 days and then they have to normally leave.
During
this 30 days, these victims can apply for acceptance into the program
although the process may not take as long as 30 days.
Perhaps they have not entered an
emergency shelter
and wish to come directly to the Can Too Center. Should this
be
the case, the same application process will be necessary.
The application process will be one that
has the
purpose of determining the sincerity of the victim to make changes and
to eliminate domestic crimes from their lives and the lives of their
children.
Even after the applicant has been
accepted, there
will be a probation period to assist the Can Too Center in assuring
that the decision of acceptance has been a good choice for all
involved.
The willingness to follow the rules of
the Can Too
Center is very important as the rules have been made with the
safety and security of everyone being the paramount issue.
Therefore, there must be a zero tolerance of violation of
these security
rules.
Part of the application process will
include testing
to document that the victims are free of any drug use. Should
there be a drug problem, acceptance will not be granted until the drug
issues are addressed. We want to help all that come to us for
help, but feel that we will not be effective to one who has drug issues
and that our efforts will be diluted for the others that do not have
these issues. We have other organizations that we might refer
the
victims to if drug addictions are an issue to work on these items first.
Through the help of the Power Point
Software we have
a presentation ready to use for educational presentations to groups
that wish to know more about what impact domestic violence and abuse
crimes have on our society. The impact of domestic violence
has
been one that has been ignored and believed to be one that if you
pretended, it did not exist then it "Never Happened". In
fact,
knowledge and understanding is what is powerful in attempting to solve
this epidemic. Should you wish to arrange a presentation
please

The Can Too Center is launching an
awareness program
to industries and groups that would have a great chance of victims
starting conversations about domestic violence in their lives.
These groups will be given the new coveted "Golden Skillet"
award
for participation in the program.
The founder was inspired to form the Can
Too Center,
Inc. and detailed her ordeal and escape from the crime of domestic
violence in her book titled Family Terror.
